The hardest part of long-form interactive fiction isn't generating the next sentence — it's remembering the last thousand. This devlog walks through how we keep a world coherent over dozens of sessions.

Persistence over prediction

Rather than re-deriving the state of the world on every turn, we persist a structured record of what has happened: who you've met, what you've changed, and which doors are now closed to you.

This record is what lets a character recall a promise you made twenty sessions ago, or hold a grudge for something you'd forgotten you did. The narrative isn't guessing at continuity — it's reading from the same memory you are.
